Goal: $30,000.00

Specific Need

New flooring, new hvac, remodel bathrooms, remodel kitchen area, and new back door.

Mission

To provide opportunities for enrichment and interaction for senior citizens in an atmosphere of support and respect and to maximize a sense of well being and health through participation in activities at the Center and in the community.

Dignity

Respecting all who interact with The Center.

Embracing differences in skills, knowledge, cultural heritage, ethnicity, and religion of senior citizens and their families.

Leadership

Recognizing that senior citizens bring valuable experience and wisdom to leadership, and can act as mentors, guides, and advocates for others which is particularly important in areas like volunteer work, community engagement, and intergenerational initiatives.

Wisdom

Drawing from the accumulated wisdom of senior citizens to benefit the larger community.

Remembrance

Honoring the presence and accomplishment of senior citizens in the community, bringing joy, pleasure through education, social events and recreation.

Future Goals for Horton Senior Center

The Horton Senior Center believes that participation in Senior Center activities and programs can improve overall well-being and can lead to improvement in physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being.

1. Social Engagement and Connection:

Provide a vital space for older adults to connect with peers, form friendships, and engage in social activities, addressing the common challenges of isolation and loneliness that can arise with age.
Building a sense of community by bringing together individuals with shared interests and creating a sense of belonging and camaraderie through group activities and shared experiences.
Maintaining and building relationships by facilitating social interactions, helping members maintain existing relationships and develop new ones which are crucial for overall well-being and life satisfaction.

2. Physical and Mental Wellness:

Promote an active and healthy lifestyle by offering various health, fitness, and wellness programs, including exercise classes, and educational workshops to help members stay physically active and maintain their health.
Provide educational programs, workshops, and mentally stimulating activities to help members keep their minds sharp and engaged.

3. Maintaining Independence and Quality of Life:

Assist in connecting members to essential community services and resources, such as transportation assistance, meal programs, and caregiver support.
Assist in connecting members to educational programs and workshops that offer opportunities for members to learn new skills, explore new interests, and engage in lifelong learning, fostering personal growth and a sense of accomplishment.
Assist members in finding a sense of purpose and engagement by providing opportunities for volunteer work and civic engagement which will enable members to contribute to their communities and find a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

In summary, it is the desire of the Horton Senior Center to help meet the diverse needs of seniors and support them in achieving their goals for a fulfilling and active later life. We will continue to offer a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can find support, engage in meaningful activities, and connect with others, all contributing to improved health, well-being, and independence.
