Highland Community College Foundation Horton Fund

Specific Need

This fall 2024, the HCC Technical Center is adding Precision Ag to our list of certificate offerings. This 34-credit hour program teaches Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Position Systems (GPS) applied to the site-specific management of agricultural resources as a producer-advisor, or technician. Our graduates will install, operate, troubleshoot, and repair precision ag systems. Technicians will also use advanced processing software to collect, visualize, and analyze data making them more competent in their own farm operations or obtain positions such as Precision Ag Technicians (implement dealers), Crop Specialists, Nutrient Management Specialists, Precision Ag Department Managers, Precision Agronomists, and Precision Farming Coordinators.

HCC has had a successful Precision Ag Program at our Western Center since 2016 and have produced nearly 80 Certificate graduates and 16 with AAS Degrees.
